Coalition Member Spotlight: Computer Reach
April 10th, 2025

Mission:
Computer Reach’s main location is Pittsburgh, but they are doing transformative work to further digital equity in nine counties across Southwestern Pennsylvania, from rural to urban communities. Their work encompasses all three pillars of digital equity, providing device access and distribution, internet access, and digital skills to those impacted by the digital divide.
Through the Computer Giveaways Program, Computer Reach distributes free, refurbished desktop computers every week to people in the Greater Pittsburgh area, awarding devices to those who otherwise may not have the capacity to own a computer. They provide affordable high-speed internet access through the T-Mobile Internet Lending Program, where 5G gateways are available for $35/month. Lastly, but certainly not least, Computer Reach’s team of digital navigators supports the community with digital skills aid and education.
Impact on their Community:
In 2024, Computer Reach distributed 1,327 refurbished computers, bringing their total to over 19,100 computers since the organization’s founding! Their digital skills record is just as impressive, as this past year, digital navigators provided over 4,000 hours of flexible tech support to the community. Across all of their programs, they enrolled 1,640 people in 2024.

Next Steps:
Computer Reach has been a staple organization in bringing digital inclusion to the Greater Pittsburgh area since 2001, yet they are still expanding their work over 20 years later. Some of their future goals include securing more funding from the state and federal government, and expanding their reach to West Virginia.
We’re proud to have Computer Reach as a key partner in our mission to create a more connected future for the people of Pennsylvania! You can follow their work at https://www.computerreach.org/
